As you can see in this picture one can barely tell that any trimming has been done.
This is a good thing, but when passersby cannot tell if anything has been done, it’s not good advertisement. Usually the homeowners know, because they see their trees all the time and can tell slight differences. The funny thing is that it takes considerably more time and effort to trim it this way than to top it, but it’s hardly noticeable. Much better for the tree though.

One thing I can’t believe is that we still have to preach ‘no topping’ after having explained the difference for so long. ‘Topping’ is mutilating a tree, same as damaging any other property.

Repair your roof on your house

punched more big holes in it and left

burned out your TV and left bare wires everywhere

and they
wrecked it, left it at your house and billed you
Give your pet a bath
and they
broke his legs
Of course you would sue. Everything they were supposed to do has only been made worse – exactly what ‘topping’ does.
